Almost 1,000 children came to Dover to learn all about the Romans when Dover Museum turned back the march of time for the annual Roman Festival.
Adults and children from 24 different schools, including one school from Germany, got dressed up in robes and togas and period costumes for the occasion, and visitors had the chance to have their faces made up and to have their hair styled in the fashion of the time. The festival was sponsored by Dover Town Council and ran from 13 to 16 June. The days also included drama workshops and the opportunity to learn about mosaic making and life in the Roman army, and visitors had talks and artifact handling sessions and the chance to visit Dover Museum.
