Any Easy Way To Make Sure You Don't Lose Your Right To Vote

Thursday, 30 August 2007
It's easy to make sure you don't lose your right to vote in any elections by registering using Dover District Council's new freephone telephone and internet registration service. The automated registration service allows you to confirm all of your household's details in a matter of minutes, saving time and ensuring your household remains on the electoral register and able to vote in any election or referendum in 2007/08.

The new system can be used where the electoral register details have not changed. By dialling the freephone number printed on your form, you can key in the special two part security code and confirm your details. The freephone number is a fully automated touch-tone system available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, throughout the registration period. You can also register online via a secure website, where you will also need your two part security code to access the website.

The system allows users to either add or remove their names from the edited version of the electoral register that is available for general sale for anyone who wants it, including mailing companies. Residents can also request postal vote application forms.

Electoral forms are being delivered to all residential properties during September and residents are being reminded to respond promptly. If your details have changed, you will still have to complete the canvass form and return it to the Council offices.
