Dog wardens in the district will be taking the lead next week with special displays and information about responsible pet ownership.
Dog wardens will be out and about across the area giving help and advice as part of a responsible dog ownership awareness campaign from 24-27 September. Wardens are providing information on patrols, and displays are being held at Tesco in Dover, the Co-op in Sandwich and the DDC Area Office in Deal. Environmental Health and Waste Services teams are helping provide information on responsible dog ownership, including pet care and especially focussing on the need for owners to clean up after their dogs.
Dog owners are reminded that failure to clean up after your dog can lead to prosecution and a fine of up to £1,000.
Diane Croucher, DDC Environmental Health Manager, said: "Every dog owner has a responsibility to clear up after their dog has messed, and to keep their pet under control. Whilst the majority of dog owners are already conscientious, we are hoping that this week of special events will remind more dog owners to act responsibly."
