Dover Marina recorded its best ever year in 2006 with a record number of resident berth-holders and the highest number of visitors for six years.
For the first time the number of berth-holders topped 300 whilst 3,769 visiting boats stayed 8,832 nights, bringing a significant boost to tourism in East Kent.
Nearly 1,500 of visiting boats were British whilst almost as many were sailed by Dutch nationals. Belgian and German visitors were also prominent, with French numbers rising following an initiative to promote cross-Channel sailing between the two countries by Transmanche Sailing partnership.
"This is a very positive business performance as we develop plans to build a new marina as part of our master planning," said Bob Goldfield, Chief Executive, Port of Dover.
