Two dragon boat teams began their race across the Channel this morning, setting off from Shakespeare Beach just before midday.
The 21-strong crews, called The Sisterhood and The Brotherhood, are raising funds for Babes in Arms and the children's hospice CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund. Prince William's girlfriend Kate Middleton was originally due to be taking part in the race, but pulled out due to security concerns.
Both teams are aiming to break records during the race - The Brotherhood for the fastest dragon boat crossing of the Channel, whilst The Sisterhood will become to first ever all female team to complete the crossing.
