A special award for clean recycling has been made to Dover District Council - and the Council is thanking householders across the district who have been sorting and recycling their paper and helping to make the news.
The Council has received a certificate from Aylesford Newsprint Ltd for the quality of the newspapers and magazines delivered to them for recycling. This is an important award as it shows that householders are playing their part by putting out clean newspapers, magazines, junk mail, brochures, catalogues etc for recycling. The quality of paper means that Aylesford Newsprint Ltd can use the recycled paper from the district to make new newspapers.
Cllr Nicholas Kenton, Cabinet Member for Environment, who received the award on behalf of DDC, said: "We are delighted that the quality of paper being collected by us has been recognized. We would like to say thank you to all residents who are recycling and the message is to please continue. We are currently recycling 20% of our household waste and want to increase this to 25% by March 2008."
