Pub Licence Suspended For Three Months

Friday, 20 April 2007
After hearing evidence from the Police that failings in the management of the Royal Oak Public House at Whitfield were leading to crime and disorder in and around the premises, Dover District Council's Licensing Sub Committee suspended the pub's premises licence for a period of three months, at a meeting yesterday. Following at least two incidents of selling alcohol to under aged persons, the Police had called for a review of the premises licence held by the pub at Whitfield, Dover.

Tony Bartlett, Licensing Manager for Dover District Council said: "Where a licensed premises can be shown to be causing anti social behaviour, the Committee has the power to curtail the activities taking place. In this case it believed the problem was in the day to day management rather than the hours and licensable activities and has acted on that belief."
