Recycling Scheme Expands

Monday, 19 February 2007
Dover District Council is welcoming major news that its popular kerbside collection scheme is expanding - with an additional 7,000 households across the area receiving black boxes as the service grows to cover more than 80% of the district.

The kerbside scheme will now cover around 40,000 households across the district, with new rounds beginning from 5 March. Dover District Council is writing to all residents on the scheme to confirm collection days. For some households this will mean a change in collection days. Where possible days have been changed to be the same as refuse collections. Waste Services is now looking at ways to continue to expand the service to remaining properties in the district.

The Council also operates a Green Waste Collection Scheme, which collects garden waste from 20,000 properties throughout the district.

Cllr Nicholas Kenton, DDC Cabinet Member for Environment said: "We are working hard to encourage people throughout the district to recycle. The expansion of the black box scheme is exciting news, which will help householders across the area to recycle and protect our environment for the future. We thank everyone who uses the kerbside collections and remind everyone that the message is to keep recycling."
