A new drive to raise recycling awareness is really getting into gear with a series of initiatives including 20,000 door-to-door visits, new leaflets and the launch of posters on local buses.
Dover District Council was awarded funding to encourage recycling across the area thanks to WRAP (the Waste & Resources Action Programme), helping communicate its recycling messages more effectively throughout the district. This is one of 72 projects in England, which were successful in bidding to receive funding to promote household recycling and increase participation in recycling initiatives.
WRAP funding is being used to promote recycling services, with a series of leaflets and advertisements on buses helping to raise awareness of what can be recycled and where. Trained canvassers have also begun visiting local households to advise people on what and how to recycle using your black box. All canvassers will carry official identification.
