A major multi million pound development, which is set to provide up to 1,800 jobs in this phase alone, has been officially launched this week as work begins on a massive £100m investment at the White Cliffs Business Park.
AMEC Developments has begun work on the 50 acre site, which is Phase 2 of the Business Park in Whitfield. This follows extensive work with Dover District Council, Kent County Council and a range of partners in the community, including English Partnerships and South East England Development Agency (SEEDA).
B&Q has confirmed it is locating a 67,000 sq ft store to the Business Park and will be starting this summer on site. AMEC's proposals include the construction of the main spine roads and then a mix of distribution and industrial accommodation to be developed as occupiers are identified.
This key investment will enable further development of phase 3 of the Business Park, creating the potential for another 30 acres of employment space and the potential for another 1,200 jobs.
Tim Ingleton, Corporate Project Manager at Dover District Council, said: "This is major news for the district and is something we have worked hard with our partners to achieve. This will help create opportunities for employment for new and existing business and complement the range of other initiatives that are now starting to emerge and show that Dover really means business."
Stephen Turner, Regional Director for AMEC Developments said: "We are delighted to be taking this project forward and will be working with Dover District Council to ensure the potential of this important site is maximized."
