Chimney sweeps, chamber maids, and a range of colourful costumed characters from times gone by are being welcomed to Dover Town Hall on Monday and Tuesday (10/11 November) when schools from across Kent return for the popular Victorian Festival.
The festival is being organised by Dover Museum, and pupils are taking part from schools in Dover, Deal, Folkestone, the Isle of Sheppey and Westgate-On-Sea. Children and adults are invited to come along dressed in Victorian costume and activities will include learning about stained glass window design, drawing artefacts, making Victorian style masks, and a practical drama workshop on life as a Victorian child. Students from South Kent College will be on hand to help with hairstyles and make-up and the days will be rounded off with sing-a-longs of songs from the time.
