With summer upon us, and the potential for alcohol misuse rising as temperatures soar, the Dover District Community Safety Partnership has launched an alcohol awareness campaign - and ongoing awareness to continue to make a difference is on the cards.
As part of the campaign, Dover District Community Safety Partnership will be giving away 1,000 packs of playing cards, with each pack containing more than 52 alcohol awareness messages, helpful hints and contact details on where to get help and advice, including the Community Safety Partnership website. The playing cards will be handed out to residents and visitors at events across the district, including the Community Safety Day, which is returning to Pencester Gardens, Dover on Saturday 11 July.
The campaign is part of the partnership's work to keep Dover District a safe place to live, work and visit. The Community Safety Partnership includes representatives from Dover District Council, Kent County Council, Kent Police, Eastern and Coastal Kent Primary Care Trust, and Kent Fire and Rescue Service. The substance misuse sub group additionally includes the Kent Drug and Alcohol Action Team, KCA (UK), the Kenward Trust and the Kent and Medway Alcohol Service.
Chair of the Dover District Community Safety Partnership, Nadeem Aziz said: "We are launching this campaign to make people think about their drinking, and to help improve quality of life throughout the district. We want everyone to have a good time, but above all to be safe and enjoy themselves without ruining their own, or other people's enjoyment because of excess alcohol. We hope the playing cards will help get the message across and help everyone have a great deal of fun this summer."
