A special cultural celebration is bringing a range of dancing for the whole community, centred around Dover Market Square - with a nationally recognized Cultural Olympiad event, All Dancing Dover, taking place in the town from 10am on Saturday 29 August.
The event follows the success of last year's Cultural Olympiad launch in Dover. The event features a wide range of displays from local dancers and dance groups, performances from the Sign Dance Collective, and a variety of other attractions, including a number of surprise elements and performances. The event will run throughout the day and further details will be displayed on the Big Screen.
The range of elements involved in All Dancing Dover means it has been awarded the Inspire Mark, and is officially recognized as part of the Cultural Olympiad celebrations across the country. This mark is given to projects that meet all the Cultural Olympiad values of welcoming the world, generating a positive legacy, and inspiring and involving young people, and meet key themes of the Cultural Olympiad. The Cultural Olympiad celebrations, which were launched in September 2008, mark the four years leading up to London 2012 Olympic Games.
Cllr Sue Chandler, DDC Cabinet Member for Community said: "This is a fantastic achievement for Dover and we are delighted to receive this recognition. This is a dance event with a difference, and is an event that can involve the whole community, and there is an element of this celebration that will appeal to everyone."
