As part of the lead up to the first British Armed Forces Day, the Chairman of Dover District Council and the Town Mayor of Dover are inviting community representatives to a special flag raising ceremony outside Dover Town Council offices at 10.30am on Monday 22 June.
The ceremony will include attendance from cadets from Dover, Deal and Sandwich, speeches from the Chairman of Dover District Council, Cllr Bernard Butcher, and the Town Mayor of Dover, Cllr Sue Jones, and a prayer and ceremonial flag raising. The ceremony follows the Government's announcement that the first British Armed Forces Day is taking place on Saturday 27 June. To mark this occasion, flag raising ceremonies are being organized across the country on 22 June to officially commence a week of celebrations in honour of our Armed Forces.
