A series of roadshows has been launched to provide direct help in the current economic climate in the heart of our communities, organized by Dover District Council's new Health and Well-being Team, working closely with a range of partner organizations.
The first roadshow was launched in Dover Town Centre on Wednesday (11 March) and was attended by Cllr Paul Watkins, Leader of Dover District Council. Cllr Watkins welcomed the launch as one of the initiatives the Council and its partners are taking forward to help residents and businesses in the current climate.
The Health and Well-being Team and its partners will also be at the following locations: Wednesday 18 March - The Undercroft, Deal Town Hall; Thursday 26 March - Guildhall Car Park, Sandwich; Monday 30 March - Eastry Court Car Park, Aylesham.
Staff with specialist skills and knowledge from a range of areas have been brought together to offer help, advice and support in one place. The team is working closely with a range of other agencies and partners in the community. The team and partners target every aspect of life including Housing and Council Tax Benefits, Jobseekers Allowance, Disability Benefits, redundancy advice for employers and employees, financial help, specialist debt advice, advice about getting involved with your community, volunteering, and access to health advice. The team is already making an impact. Redundancy presentations and home visits are taking place to give practical help.
DDC is also bringing together local business groups to identify what support business needs, and what can be done to help businesses and employees. Dover District Council has now doubled financial help it has available for business rate relief for businesses struggling to deal with immediate hardship.
