Work has started today (6 May) on installing the Olympic Live Site big screen in Dover Market Square. This means the screen could be up and running by the end of June for use by the community for information and local events, as well as for national events and the Olympics in 2012.
The screen was secured for Kent by the County Council's Sport, Leisure and Olympics Service, working with the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG). Its installation in Dover follows a wide range of partners working together, including Kent County Council, LOCOG, Dover Town Council, Dover District Council, East Kent Primary Care Trust and Dover Pride.
The BBC will provide content and manage the screen. Dover will be the first Live Site chosen by LOCOG that is not a city.
