A special skate event is taking off at the leading edge Pencester Skate Park in Dover on Wednesday 8 April, from 12 noon to 4pm, with free taster sessions and a range of prizes to be won.
The Pencester Skate and Ride Jam features skateboarding, bmx, scooter, and inline skating for all ages and abilities. The event is free and is being organized by Dover District Council, working with the Revolution Skate Park. The day is open to everyone and will include instruction for beginners, and competitions and prizes for various categories in a range of age groups.
The event is being funded by the Barclays Spaces for Sports Programme, which is administered by the Football Foundation. It forms part of a project that is working to offer taster sessions to beginners and to raise the profile of wheeled sports locally.
All participants must wear a safety helmet - a small number will be available to borrow on the day. Participants under the age of 16 must provide a completed consent form signed by a parent or legal guardian. Forms are available from Dover District Council in advance or at the skate park on the day.
