Chamber maids, chimney sweeps, and a colourful collection of costumed characters were welcomed to Dover Town Hall when more than 360 pupils from schools across Kent came along for the return of the popular Victorian Festival.
The festival was organised by Dover Museum on Monday and Tuesday 9/10 November, and pupils took part from schools in Broadstairs, Dover, Folkestone, Pluckley, Rainham, Sittingbourne, Stelling Minnis, Temple Ewell, and Tenterden. Visitors were invited to come along dressed in Victorian costume, and activities included a drama workshop on life as a Victorian child, making masks and clay tiles, and drawing artefacts. Students from South Kent College were on hand to help with hairstyles and make-up, and the days were rounded off with sing-a-longs of songs from the time.
