Dover District Council Building Control is welcoming news that three recently completed building projects in the district, including the prestigious Dover Sea Sports Centre, were among the award winners at the Local Authority Building Control Regional awards 2010.
More than 300 people gathered for the awards ceremony at the Copthorne Hotel near Gatwick Airport, on Friday 11 June, and Graham Lee and Wendy Hurrell of BBC London presented awards to the winners of 11 categories. To be eligible for the awards, the building projects had to be checked to ensure that they are safe, accessible and energy efficient by the Building Control team at the appropriate Council, including Dover District Council.
Award winners at the LABC Building Excellence Awards included 1 Victoria Road in Deal - developed by Paul Marklew (Best Domestic Extension or Conversion), The Old Dairy Site in Mongeham - developed by Alan Smith ATS Developments (Best Small Housing Development), and Dover Sea Sports Centre - developed by Dover Sea Sports Centre Trust, built by Jenner contractors, and designed by Simons Design Ltd (Best Partnership, Best Technical Development, Best Community Development, Best Large Commercial Development).
Martin Leggatt, Building Control Manager at Dover District Council said: "I would like to thank the design and construction teams at the three projects for their professionalism and the quality of the buildings that will be enjoyed both now and by future generations."
