Local residents are invited to come along and vote for their favourite community projects at the next meeting of the Dover North Neighbourhood Forum on Saturday 18 September at Elvington Community Centre from 10am.
This year, the Dover District Neighbourhood Forums are piloting Participatory Budgeting. This is an innovative way of allocating funding that directly involves local people in recommending how the Small Community Capital Projects grant is awarded in their area. Invited local groups, who have applied and been found eligible, will give a three minute presentation on their project. Residents will then vote electronically on how they score each project, and the top scoring projects will be recommended for funding. All recommendations are subject to approval by KCC and DDC Cabinets.
Doors open at 9.30am with light refreshments and an opportunity to meet your local County, District, and Parish Councillors, and other Forum members. Residents will also be able to talk to a representative from the Dover District Community Safety Partnership.
Dover West Neighbourhood Forum was also due to hold a community voting event on Saturday 18 September at the Elvington Community Centre, but this event is now not necessary as the grant fund available covers the total value of the applications received. All eligible community projects in the Dover West Neighbourhood Forum area will therefore be recommended to KCC/DDC Cabinets to be awarded funding.
