Local residents are invited to come along and vote for their favourite community projects at the next meeting of the Dover Town Neighbourhood Forum on Friday 15 October at St Mary's Parish Hall, Dover from 6pm.
This year the Dover District Neighbourhood Forums are piloting Participatory Budgeting. This is an innovative way of allocating funding that directly involves local people in recommending how the Small Community Capital Projects grant fund is awarded in their area, and a total of around £16,500 is available for the Dover Town Neighbourhood Forum.
Invited local groups, who have applied and been found eligible, will give a three minute presentation on their project. A summary of the applications being considered will be available on the DDC website. Residents will be able to vote electronically on the day on how they score each project, and the top scoring projects will be recommended for funding. All recommendations are then subject to approval by KCC and DDC Cabinets.
This is an open meeting and all residents are welcome. Doors open at 5.30pm with light refreshments and an opportunity to meet your local County, District and Town Councillors, and other Forum members.
Kent County Council is also holding a further event (same day and venue) for the groups applying to the KCC Local Schemes Grant funds. These applications will also be recommended through Participatory Budgeting, and this event will start at 8pm.
