Dover District Community Safety Unit continues to work with Kent Probation to nominate projects for the Community Payback scheme - and nominations for projects that relate to community safety continue to be welcomed from local people or groups.
The Kent Probation Service makes a certain amount of Community Payback time available to the Dover District Community Safety Partnership. The work must be to the benefit of the local community or a charitable organisation, and must not involve work that would normally be done by someone in paid employment.
Community Payback comes into play when an offender is ordered to work in the community, either as part of a supervised group or as a supervised individual for between 40-300 hours. A recent project was nominated by a St Margaret's resident, and involved the clearing of overgrown paths in the St Margaret's/Kingsdown area.
If you have a project you think relates to community safety and is suitable for Community Payback, an application form may be obtained from the Community Safety Unit at DDC on 01304 872163, or visit the Community Safety pages on DDC's website at www.dover.gov.uk/community/community_safety/community_payback.aspx.
