Dover Cruise Port welcomes AIDA Sol

Monday, 18 April 2011
Dover Cruise Port has welcomed the cruise ship AIDA Sol on her inaugural call to the town. Clare Newman, Commercial and Marketing Services Manager at Dover Cruise Port, exchanged plaques with Captain Detlef Harms during a ceremony on Wednesday 13th April.

The ceremony provided a brief respite from a busy schedule for the vessel which had just arrived from Oslo, Norway - the next stop was Le Havre before ending its journey at Hamburg.

The AIDA Sol, which is owned by the popular operator AIDA Cruises, will be visiting Dover twice more this year. This was her maiden voyage following a naming ceremony in Kiel, Germany at the beginning of April.

Sister ships AIDA Cara and AIDA Blu will be making several visits to Dover this season, welcoming some of the 240,000 passengers expected to travel through the Cruise Port this year.

In 2012 the brand new AIDA Mar will also feature Dover on her maiden voyage after a naming ceremony in May of that year. In addition there are calls planned with the AIDA Luna and AIDA Cara in 2012, further confirming AIDA Cruises commitment to the Port of Dover.
