The Chairman of Dover District Council, Cllr Sue Nicholas, with the Kent Branch of the Merchant Navy Association, is organising a special service at Dover Town Hall for Merchant Navy Day on Friday 2 September, and all are welcome to attend.
Standard bearers will march into the Town Hall from 10.30am, where there will be a Service of Celebration. The service will be followed by an address from Donald Hunter, the Chairman of the Kent Branch of the Merchant Navy Association, and a closing address from the Chairman of Dover District Council.
An official wreath laying ceremony for civic heads, standard bearers, Merchant Navy Association representatives, and other members of the community is also being held at the Merchant Navy War Memorial on Dover seafront from 12.30pm.
