The Port of Dover continues to lead the way in port environmental management by maintaining total commitment to reducing the impact of one of the world's busiest ports on the local environment.
Having been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard last year for reducing its carbon emissions by an impressive 13.2%, the Port of Dover has not rested on its laurels, and, after the first 6 months of 2011 it is on target to reduce these by a further 7% this year.
With important savings being made in water, heating oil and electricity consumption, the Port is determined to minimise its carbon footprint.
Bob Goldfield, Chief Executive said: "Operating one of the world's busiest ferry ports alongside the local community requires us to make even more of a commitment to ensuring that the Port's impact on its surroundings is properly addressed. We are doing just that, and such an achievement on the back of being awarded the prized Carbon Trust Standard is testament to the expertise and ongoing commitment we have in this field."
