Dover Museum is remembering the Eighties and looking at how the area has changed over the last 30 years in a new exhibition, which opens Monday 16 May.
Using contrasting photographs from now and then, 'Dover in Pictures' looks at changing times in the area, and compares the district of 30 years ago with the area today. It includes a comparison of technology, fashion and everyday items, as well as archive and film material, and a chance for visitors to write down and display their own memories of Dover at the time. The exhibition runs in connection with the BBC's 'Domesday Reloaded' online project, which explores the results of the 1986 Domesday project, where local people captured and recorded the life and landscape of the 1980s in their area, using photos and text.
The exhibition runs at Dover Museum from 16 May to 8 October. If you have items from the 1980s that you would like to see added to the displays, and would be willing to lend them to the Museum, contact Sam Harris on 01304 216883. For general information, call Dover Museum on 01304 201066.
