Border Force officers have foiled two smuggling attempts at Dover within two days.
On Friday 20 April officers based at the border controls in Dover intercepted a Czech-registered van. On searching the van and its contents officers discovered 49 CS gas canisters.
The second seizure was made on 21 April when officers found approximately 120 kilos of amphetamine and eight kilos of cocaine hidden in a lorry. The drugs have an estimated street value of £400,000.
Both the driver of the van, a 32 year-old man from the Czech Republic, and the lorry driver, a 55 year-old man from The Netherlands, have been bailed pending further enquiries. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
Carole Upshall from Border Force said: "Border Force officers are on constant alert to keep illegal drugs and other banned substances out of the UK."
