Border Force officers are investigating after approximately seven kilos of heroin was seized at Dover's Eastern Docks.
The drugs, with an estimated street value of £350,000, were discovered on Tuesday (10 July 2012) when officers stopped a British-registered lorry after it had arrived in Dover on a ferry from Dunkirk. After the vehicle was scanned, a search was carried out and officers found the heroin concealed in the load of empty meat bins.
A 41-year-old man from Bourne, Lincolnshire has been bailed and enquiries by Border Force continue.
Carole Upshall from Border Force said: "Border Force officers are on constant alert to keep illegal drugs and other banned substances out of the UK.
"We are determined to prevent this terrible trade which can have such a destructive impact on the lives of so many."
