Have your say with your local water company

Friday, 23 November 2012
Affinity Water has begun work on the next round of long-term water resource planning. It is calling on customers to make their views known to help the company get the right balance between the service customers want, the cost of providing it and the price customers pay.

In preparing the plan, Affinity Water will need to consider customer expectations and the challenges the company faces, such as increased consumption from housing and population growth, the unpredictable effects of climate change and the investment needed to maintain the network Affinity Water uses to treat and supply water.

Water Resources Manager for Affinity Water, Mike Pocock, said: "We publish our Water Resource Management Plan every five years to show how we plan to supply enough water to meet demand over the next 25 years. We must ensure that we balance the demand for water from our customers with available water resources, whilst minimising the impact on the local environment."

Affinity Water wants to hear customers' views on the level of service they would like, whether they feel the company should do more to make environmental improvements by reducing the amount of water it takes from rivers and boreholes, reduce leakage levels, meter more households, help customers use less water, invest more money to increase the resilience of the network to reduce interruptions or restrictions in times of drought.

An open forum is being held at Dover Town Hall on Tuesday 27th November from 5pm to 6.30pm. Customers can also give their views by writing to Have Your Say, Affinity Water, Tamblin Way, Hatfield, Hertfordshire, AL10 9EZ.
