Dover District Council is congratulating members of the local community, and welcoming exciting news of the district's success at the 2013 Fields in Trust Awards Ceremony, held at Lord's Cricket Ground on Thursday (28 November 2013).
In an incredible evening for the local community, Capel-le-Ferne Parish Council won the national Partner of the Year Award, and Tracey Creed of Guston Parish Council won the prestigious Fields in Trust Community Champion Award.
Dover District Council was nominated as a UK finalist for the Inclusion Award for Lancaster Avenue Playing Field, after DDC successfully applied for Fields in Trust grants for Capel-le-Ferne to provide tarmac paths 1.2m wide to enable inclusive access at the park.
Guston Green was also nominated as a UK finalist for the Most Improved QEII Field Award.
Cllr Sue Chandler, DDC Cabinet Member for Youth and Community Safety, said: "We are delighted at the success of the district in these awards, and congratulate everyone involved. We were very pleased to support the excellent work of Capel-le-Ferne Parish Council and Tracey Creed at Guston Parish Council, through our Community and Engagement Team and the work of Community Engagement Officer Lynn Brisley. We continue to work in partnership with our communities for the future."
