Holiday fun for all the family in White Cliffs Country

Tuesday, 21 May 2013
Dover District is packed with exciting places to see and things to do for all the family this Bank Holiday weekend and school holiday week.

There is a fantastic range of events and attractions and wonderful places to visit and explore throughout White Cliffs Country, a unique place where coast meets country, beauty meets history, and England meets the Continent.

As well as visiting the towns and villages, a few ideas to explore in White Cliffs Country include:

  • Enjoy one of the many great castles, museums and historic attractions. Dover Museum has a great range of incredible things to see, including the important Bronze Age Boat. Dover Museum has Family Days on Wednesday 29 May, when adults and children can design and make their own door hangers, and on Thursday 30 May, when visitors can make a collage picture of historical figures. Entry to Dover Museum is free on Family Days, and there is no extra charge for activities - for more information visit www.dovermuseum.co.uk
  • Enjoy one of the great days out across the district from a range of agencies, for example, from Saturday 25 to Monday 27 May, English Heritage is holding the World War II Weekend at Dover Castle - more information is available at www.english-heritage.org.uk
  • Take part in one of the many events organised by partners and communities out and about in the area, for example the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership is holding the Wild Senses and Mini Beast Safari Green Gang event at Samphire Hoe from 2-4pm on Sunday 26 May - see www.whitecliffscountryside.org.uk
  • Or if you want to get active, why not try the range of sporting facilities in the area, including taking a swim with the family at the Dover Leisure Centre
  • Enjoy the open air and world famous coastline, take a walk in the countryside, or visit any of the many picturesque parks and gardens across the area, and perhaps enjoy a picnic with the family at Kearsney Abbey - for more information on parks and gardens in the district, see the DDC website at www.dover.gov.uk
