A man arrested within hours of ten alleged burglary offences being committed in Dover early on Tuesday morning has been charged.
39-year-old Shane Clive Watkins of Marine Parade, Folkestone, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and questioned about a number of break-ins at properties in Temple Ewell and Dover carried out between Monday night and Tuesday morning (20 and 21 May 2013).
In seven of the alleged break-ins, a purse or handbag was stolen.
Watkins has been charged with 11 alleged offences and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court.
The charges are as follows:
Four counts of burglary dwelling and theft in Lower Road, Temple Ewell.
Two counts of burglary dwelling with intent to steal (one in Lower Road, Temple Ewell and one in Pavilion Meadow, Dover)
Three counts of burglary dwelling and theft in Brookside, Temple Ewell.
Attempt burglary dwelling in Chisnall Road, Dover.
He was also charged with criminal damage after allegedly causing damage to a custody cell at Folkestone Police Station.
