Dover Marina has held an open fun day. Over 100 budding mariners and seasoned sailors came along to the event, the first of its kind at Dover.
From getting people interested in sailing to learning how to do it and ultimately buying a boat, the fun day demonstrated that it can all be done at Dover.
Tim Waggott, Chief Executive, Port of Dover, said: "We are committed to developing a thriving sailing community at the Port. We want to create a buzz around the seafront and for that to be part of our work to achieve a vibrant waterfront that supports the local economy."
The Port provided advice on how to be an environmentally friendly boat owner as part of the Green Blue programme created by the British Marine Federation and Royal Yachting Association. The event was also supported by the local Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club which conducted popular sailing tasters throughout the day.
Mr Waggott added: "By working with our partners we are creating a valuable community asset that attracts new people to Dover as a destination."
The event is set to return next year.
