Port Chairman pedals the power to cure

Tuesday, 6 August 2013
1,000 miles of cycling in cold, wind and hot weather? Not perhaps what you might expect from the normally smart suited 65 year old Chairman of Dover Harbour Board.

However, that is just what George Jenkins has done. Completing the final 100 miles on Sunday 4th August in the Prudential Ride London 100, which follows the route of last year's Olympic Road Race, Mr Jenkins has been raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Mr Jenkins said: "Thanks to the great work led by the Cystic Fibrosis movement, both youngsters and adults have a good chance of living a more normal and fulfilling life."

After much training, Mr Jenkins was determined to ensure that he would complete the challenge in order that the money he has raised will help to continue the necessary research into finding a cure.

Mr Jenkins added: "I had to take on some notorious Surrey Hills during my last leg, but I had the thought of the incredible people who work so tirelessly to support those living with Cystic Fibrosis and those who care for them driving me all the way."
