An exciting new-look play area was opened at Sheridan Road in Dover today - with new equipment and play features developed in consultation with the local community.
The facilities at the popular play area have been redesigned with high quality, inclusive designs. New equipment includes a zip wire, a balance trail unit, a new junior agility climbing frame, and new items for toddlers, with a spring boat, interactive play panels, and a 'rock n bowl' roundabout.
The consultation events included a workshop at Green Park Primary School, and pupils from the school joined representatives from Dover District Council at the launch. The consultation was carried out by DDC, with the support of East Kent Housing.
This new-look play area also follows the recent launch of renovated play areas at Northbourne Avenue and Elms Vale. The work is part of DDC's commitment to develop strategic play areas across the district and upgrade some existing facilities to strategic status. This project also forms part of their work with East Kent Housing to develop play areas alongside Council properties.
Cllr Sue Chandler, DDC Cabinet Member for Housing said: "We are delighted to have worked with East Kent Housing to deliver this new-look play area, and would like to thank everyone in the community who helped us with the design."
Cllr Nigel Collor, DDC Cabinet Member for Access and Property Management said: "We are very pleased to launch another innovative new area for our young people and another great example of how we are working with our communities for the future of the district."
