A range of gardening equipment has been presented to volunteers from the Connaught Park Appreciation Group to support their excellent work in helping to continue to maintain and improve the popular local park.
Cllr Nigel Collor, DDC Cabinet Member for Access and Property Management, met Colette Boland from the Connaught Park Appreciation Group (CPAG) at the park to present the gardening equipment to the group.
Volunteers from the local community have been involved with a range of improvements at the park, working with Dover District Council, including the planting of the annual flower beds, and refurbishment of the wooden park benches. The new equipment presented to CPAG includes shears, spades, forks, loppers, hoes, secateurs, litter pickers and green waste bags.
This follows the launch of a £36K programme of renovations to the pond and the Victorian Shelter last year. As part of these works, DDC made a range of repairs and improvements in the park, including draining, cleaning and repairing the pond, and repairing and redecorating the Victorian Shelter.
Colette Boland from the Connaught Park Appreciation Group said: "As a regular user of the park, I wanted to help improve this much-loved area, to put something back into the community, and to see the positive results. We have had wonderful support from volunteers, and local groups and organisations. We have been very pleased to work with Dover District Council, and are delighted that they are presenting us with this equipment to support our work."
Cllr Nigel Collor, DDC Cabinet Member for Access and Property Management said: "We are very pleased to be able to help support CPAG with this new equipment, and we thank them for their excellent work. We share the enthusiasm of the volunteers who have worked hard to help improve the park, and we thank everyone for their support. We hope the community will continue to take pride in this beautiful park, and we look forward to continuing to work with them in the future."
