Dover District Council is supporting Small Business Saturday by offering free parking in DDC car parks on Saturday 6 December - and is also offering free parking in DDC car parks for Christmas week from Saturday 20 December to Friday 26 December.
Small Business Saturday is a national campaign designed to raise the profile of small businesses across the UK, and as part of the initiative, DDC will be offering free car parking in all its off-street car parks all day on 6 December. KCC has also agreed free parking at the on-street Pay and Display areas in the district for the day.
With most retailers gearing up for the festive season, DDC wants more people to recognise the value, quality and choice that local traders provide. Car parking will also be free in DDC off-street car parks, and at on-street Pay and Display parking areas in the final Christmas shopping week from 20-26 December inclusive.
Parking charges will still apply at car parks not owned by DDC. All other parking conditions will continue to apply.
Cllr Nigel Collor, DDC Cabinet Member for Access and Property Management, said: "Once again we are pleased to join in Small Business Saturday to help our local traders to promote themselves and think of ways to encourage town centre shopping. This is an ideal launch pad for our free parking week from the Saturday before Christmas through to Boxing Day, when we trust that people working in our town centres will park where they usually do to allow potential customers to take advantage of these free parking offers."
