A man from Dover who was charged with a public order offence has been given a 12-month community order, sentenced to 80-hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £520 court costs.
50-year-old Michael John Stanton of Castle Hill Road, Dover was arrested in December 2013 following an incident that occurred in Pencester Park, Dover.
On 7 December 2013 Stanton was spotted on CCTV drinking from a can in the alcohol control zone in Pencester Park. A PCSO responded to the incident and on arrival Stanton was abusive towards the officer. In front of the public he was aggressive and used bad language. It is reported he threatened to 'rip out' the officer's spine.
Stanton was later arrested and charged with using threatening behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence. He denied the offence but was found guilty at Folkestone Magistrates Court on 2 October 2014.
