Two people have been handed bills of £370 and £120 respectively for littering following successful prosecutions by Dover District Council.
At a case heard in her absence at Canterbury Magistrates Court on 15 April 2014, Miss Natalie Baxter of Station Road, Lyminge was found guilty of depositing litter. The Magistrate imposed a fine of £200 along with a £20 victim surcharge. Miss Baxter was also ordered to pay costs of £150. A Dover District Council Environmental Enforcement Officer observed Miss Baxter discard a cigarette in the area of Biggin Street, Dover on 7 October 2013, and issued her with a fixed penalty notice.
In a second case also heard at Canterbury Magistrates Court on 15 April 2014, Mr Samuel Cooper of Densole Way, Folkestone pleaded guilty to depositing litter and was fined £75 and a £20 victim surcharge. He was also ordered to pay costs of £25. A Dover District Council Environmental Enforcement Officer observed Mr Cooper discard a cigarette end into a puddle in Pencester Gardens, Dover, on 4 November 2013, and issued him with a fixed penalty notice.
In each case, Dover District Council took court action when the offenders failed to pay the Fixed Penalty Notices issued to them.
