Horace Nix, 84 and Malcolm Nix, 55 were both jailed after two victims, now aged in their twenties gave evidence to police in 2013 revealing the abuse they had been subject to. The abuse occurred over a number of years, beginning when one of the girls was four years old and the other was aged eight.

Both men were arrested in 2013. Horace, from Manley Close, Dover was charged with five counts of indecent assault. Malcolm, from Holt Street, Dover was charged with two offences of gross indecency and three offences of indecent assault.

But when officers searched Malcolm's home address they found 160 indecent images of children. He was also charged with three counts of making indecent images of children.

Both men denied the charges but were found guilty during their trial in July.

Horace was sentenced to 10 years and Malcolm to 12 years, three of which will be served on licence. Both were given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order indefinitely and both have notification requirements indefinitely and both are banned from working with children and vulnerable adults.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Emily Hooper said: "The offences that these two men have committed have had a devastating and long lasting effect on the victims and neither of the defendants has shown remorse for their offences. The victims and witnesses in this case have shown huge bravery and courage in coming forward and reporting these matters to police and for that I would like to personally thank them.

"I only hope that the sentences passed today show that this type of offending however long ago it occurred will be thoroughly investigated and the perpetrators will be brought to justice."
