Police investigating an incident in which a man was seriously injured in Dover are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.
Kent Police received a report of an incident in which the victim, a man in his sixties, was walking his own pet dog between 10.15am and 10.45am on 17 March 2015 along Holmestone Road, Dover when it was bitten by another dog.
It is reported that the dog, described as a large, light-coloured German Shepherd, then jumped at the victim as he tried to protect his own dog, causing him to fall backwards. When on the ground the dog then tried to grab the victim by his leg before it was called and led away by a man.
The victim sustained a broken leg, and bites to both hands.
Investigating officer PC Simon Varrall said: "This was a nasty incident in which the victim was seriously injured trying to protect his own pet.
"I'm keen to trace the owner of the dog in question and would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to get in touch."
Anyone with information can contact PC Varrall on 01843 222289 quoting ZY/8120/15.
