Recycling advisors - coming to a door near you soon

Wednesday, 4 February 2015
Recycling advisors working on behalf of Dover District Council are carrying out a district-wide door-to-door campaign to help residents sort their plastic waste, and continue to increase the amount we all recycle. The team of advisors will be visiting households to help explain what to recycle, and answering any questions that residents may have about recycling or our waste collection service.

Cllr Nicholas Kenton, DDC Cabinet Member for Environment, said: "Dover District residents are doing a fantastic job when it comes to recycling waste, with almost half of our waste being recycled, so a big thanks to everyone! However, we can still do more. One main area we are looking to make improvements in is where our blue lidded recycling bins contain items that cannot be recycled. Recycling that is 'contaminated' in this way cannot be recycled, and we have to send it to landfill.

"The team of advisors will be out door-to-door explaining what to recycle, especially when it comes to plastics, and answering any questions that residents may have about recycling or about our waste collection service."

All of the advisors, from M*E*L Research & Service Development, will carry photographic ID cards and authorisation letters, so please make sure you check these before you start talking to the advisor. The advisors should never ask you for personal information, so please make sure you never give any personal information to anyone at your doorstep.
