Kent Police has been informed of right-wing demonstrations planned in Dover on Saturday 28 May and Sunday 29 May 2016.
A proportionate response is currently being planned that will allow Kent Police to meet its legal obligation to facilitate peaceful protest.
The exact timings and locations for the demonstrations are subject to change and further information will be provided nearer the time. It is currently unknown how many people are expected to attend.
In a press release, Kent Police stated they respect anyone’s right to peaceful protest, and its intentions will be to balance that right with the rights of other people in Dover such as members of the public and local businesses.
They added that groups cannot be prevented from entering Dover or protesting as it is a basic human right, and any group seeking to protest peacefully and legitimately will be facilitated as long as there is not a significant threat to public safety.
