A man and woman whose bodies were found at the foot of Langdon Cliffs at Dover on New Year's Day have been formally identified.
Muriel and Bernard Burgess were twins aged 59 from the village of Elton, Chester. Their next of kin has been located and informed about their deaths.
Police who are preparing a report for the Coroner are still appealing for help to trace the last movements of the twins and would like to hear from guest houses, B&Bs, hotels, pubs and taxi drivers who may have been in contact with them over the Christmas period.
The twins were wearing dark-coloured wet weather clothing and may have been seen at the top of the cliffs in the period between Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
A man whose body was also discovered at the bottom of the cliffs on Sunday 1 January was formally identified as a 45-year-old Scott Enion from Manchester.
The deaths are not being treated as suspicious and police are not linking the death of Scott Enion with that of the Burgess twins.
If you have any information that could help with the enquiry into the twins’ movements please contact Detective Sergeant Stuart Ward on 01843 222289 quoting incident number 01-980.
