A robber has received a 54 month jail sentence after a man was pulled to the floor and beaten in Dover last year.
Sean Deane, 22, of Folkestone Road, was walking to a party with a friend on Saturday 9 July 2016. The court heard the pair had been drinking and Deane had taken an ecstasy pill.
Deane attacked a man, aged in his 30s, in Priory Road, knocking him over and kicking him in the head and face before taking his wallet.
A driver caught the pair on dash cam walking away from the scene. The witness challenged the two men before checking on the injured man and calling the police.
Deane was identified by the victim and recorded on dash cam footage admitting to the offence. He pleaded guilty to one charge of robbery at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday 22 June 2017. The sentence will run concurrent with another crime for which Deane is currently serving time in prison.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Kelly Snowden said: "This was a particularly violent attack that left its victim in a lot of pain and discomfort.
"Deane showed a complete lack of concern as he walked away from the scene, with the injured man lying on the floor in a dire state.
"Such vicious assaults are never warranted and Deane will have plenty of time to reflect on his actions behind bars."
