Community groups in the area looking for funding have been invited to apply for grants from the DDC Community Grants Scheme 2018-19 - the scheme opens today and the closing date for applications is 29 May 2018.
DDC is offering grant funding to community groups that can show benefit to the local area, and groups are invited to apply for individual grants from £100 up to £1,000. At its meeting yesterday, Cabinet agreed to allocate £22,500 to the Community Grants Scheme for 2018/19.
Last year, more than £22K was allocated to 28 different community groups across the district, including the Astor Community Arts Trust, the Friends of Kingsdown Play Park, the Dover Outreach Centre, Whitfield Juniors Football Club, and Age Concern Sandwich Centre for the Retired.
Cllr MJ Holloway, DDC Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: "This money goes to the heart of the community and has high impact in the areas that the community wants. We’d like to see more groups apply this year, and we are very happy to talk to community groups about how the scheme works and how effective it has been with other groups in the past."
Community groups can apply for community grants online on the DDC website - for more information visit the Community Grants page or for more details call 01304 872277.
