As part of their work to celebrate success in the community, the Chairman of Dover District Council has been visiting community groups funded in last year’s Community Grants Scheme - this follows news that this year’s scheme has now been launched.
Community groups looking for funding have been invited to apply for grants from the DDC Community Grants Scheme 2018/19, and the closing date for applications is 29 May 2018. DDC is offering funding to groups that can show benefit to the local area, and groups are invited to apply for grants from £100 to £1,000.
Last year, funding was allocated to 28 different community groups across the district. One of the successful projects was the Whitfield Juniors Football Club.
The Chairman of Dover District Council, Cllr Sue Chandler, met the Whitfield Juniors Football Club. The club received a grant from the DDC Community Grants Scheme for FA coaching courses and to help them purchase two training goals.
Marcus Hickman, from Whitfield Juniors Football Club, said: "We are very grateful to receive the grant. The funding has allowed our club to grow, adding qualified coaches, and ultimately helping us to achieve the FA Club Charter Standard."
Cllr Sue Chandler, Chairman of Dover District Council, said: "It was great to meet the Juniors Football Club and to see them practising and training for the future. We're delighted to be able to support groups like this with the Community Grants."
