What a great day out we had and all entirely FREE. This event ran for the whole weekend so it really was a must for all to see. Great 1940's 'Blue Birds Over the White Cliffs of Dover' singing, great military vehicles, great people all enjoying themselves and some lapping up the memories in full costume. It really is an event with style and is quite different. Loved by young and old alike. To some it brought back poignant and fond memories of wartime Dover.
Picture:Top Forumite Ian Lillford , aka Croc of the Dour, showing his lovely little grandchild Kasey all the exciting things happening around her. What a great pic even if I do say so myself. In the background you can see some of the heavy grade military hardware on show. Aah lovely shot!
'Commander' Barry Williams, another Fab Forumite out there in the thick of the action. Barry is one of the organisers of the Event and really looks the dashing part here. Well done BarryW. I feel a salute coming on! On the right we see the fantastically attired Terry Nunn. What a great Bud Flanagan outfit. Terry was doing sound man and continuity announcer for the ongoing show and a great job he was doing too, as those plaintive tones of his entertained the gathered throng.
A good crowd was building up and almost all the seats were gone as people enjoyed the Swingtime Sweethearts singing duo. Here on the left we see Nigel Collor's mum Phyllis really enjoying herself and doing a bit of flag waving to boot. She is joined in the celebrations by good friend Doris. On the right here we have Mr and Mrs Vic Matcham enjoying a cup o'tay and a bit of a canoodle. Its good to see Mrs M out and about even though still on crutches.
This young lad is Jack Henry age 4. Jack looks great onboard the 1936 BSA Empire Star. Well done Jack! This is just one of the amazing vehicles on show. Pic on the right shows some of The Blackfish Academy during their scintillating show. That's Richard on the left in the pic.
Again we return to little Kasey who was adored by one and all. Alison Williams gives her a big hug as the sun breaks through.
