27 December 2011Boxing Day Dip Phase II
Early arriving..and as we moved into the crowd, a tall figure stood out. Clearly this cool figure had just jetted in from the ski slopes of Central Europe, and as the early morning fog cleared from our alcohol-induced hazed vision.. and we moved ever closer to the prey, we could see it was none other than former Deputy Mayor and now President of the Rotary Club, Deal..yes none other than Cllr David Hannent. The little santa next to him, and about to get terribly wet, is 'Lady' Linda herself. Wife to the mighty one!
Three hardy souls here. Ready for the fray in the spray! yes its the terrific threesome themselves, getting all revved up and ready for action..Ross Miller ace forumite, Jeanette Harper, Landlady of the White Horse..and Thomas 'Guzzler' Mitchell all doing the dash and splash for their favourite good causes. All members of the Doverforum action club.
Happiness is getting soaked on Boxing Day. Quite clearly the girls here, the aforementioned Linda and Jeanette, are as happy as Larry, who ever Larry was, and are all wet. Clearly mad.. but the girls are keen, very keen to do it again next year too!!.. according to their statements in our Forum section. Note for the sanity dept: May be needing therapy...
Now we have the Mayor of all Dover herself, Cllr Ronnie Philpott with her family..joining in with the super seafront fun and frolics. Left to right...Charlie, then Charlie's Mum Michelle, then auntie Ronnie herself..and on the right, friend Charlotte. The girls were doing the dip!
Familiar faces again here. Cllr Jan Tranter former Mayor of Dover with long time Doverforum photografter Colette Boland. ColetteB passed the camera on this one so that she and Jan could play a starring role in the posing extravaganza. These girls dont go near the water...heavens no!
This eye catching group in dazzling red bring up the rear in that its our last picture. Its simply all we can fit in, although we even have more. This is the Walton family and the Fry family getting ready to take the mighty plunge for charity. Well done guys! Well done to everyone all round. Not only is it fun, but plenty of dosh was raised for worthy causes.

Phase One :The Boxing Day big dip dip dipper....Brrrrrrr!
The mad hatters were out in force again yesterday for the annual Boxing Day Dip. Jolly jolly japes were had by all as normally quite sober and sensible Dovorians took leave of their accumulated senses and rushed headlong into the surf on Dover Beach. Hundreds and hundreds turned out to watch as an ever larger number took the plunge, some doing it for charity and some doing it just for ..ermmm fun! Fortunately it was a mildish day. The tide was very much in.. so the run to the splash was exeedingly short, not giving time to us hard pressed photographers to get the pictures. Tip for all photographers out there doing the Boxing Day Dip..close your eyes and snap away blindly!!
The chap in the mankini stole the show somewhat. An extrovert for sure..he found solid and modest use for that Christmas hat on the way out of the ocean. Not quite as extrovert on the way out after the shock of hitting all that very cold water. My...hasn't that mankini shrunk!! oooh I say!
We have many more pictures to come...(now done)
mostly of our member forumites posing before their worst nightmare....the terror of the deep!
