Will you still need me
will you still feed me
when I'm 64!!
When Shakespeare* wrote those immortal lines above, one sunday afternoon while sitting in his bath, he may well have had Cllr David Hannent in mind, because the big guy has just turned 64 in fine style. Big Dave is of course a legendary Forumite of loooong time standing, he has been with us here on Doverforum since dinosaurs walked the White Cliffs, and there is no doubt that wife 'Lady' Linda will still continue to give him all the nourishment he needs. The romance will continue, and you heard it here first!
The picture on the left shows Linda and David out celebrating said birthday at the Raj Mahal in Whitfield last saturday night. A considerable chunk of Forumites were in attendance to lend much cheer...and all flushed with success that the toilets closure issue had been at least temporarily resolved. Nobody wanted to see all that energy expressed by the community going down the pan. So on the evening, nobody at all was bogged down by the bad bog situation and a jolly celebration was had by all. (No more with the bog jokes!)
It is always good this miserable time of year to have a cheery event to go to, and as ever it was always good to see the Forumites enjoying the occasion. The invitation was open to all the members on doverforum.
How does he do it!? In every picture Ian Lillford ends up with armfuls of wimmin! Here Ian shows his pulling power with Una Mills on the left and Alison Williams on the right. These teamsters are always up for a few laughs and a good time generally. In the background there you can see Roger and Jean Walkden. The picture on the right shows former popular mayor Bob Markham getting up close and personal with Sue Mullan as they relax over the biriani or whatever its called. There was oceans of very nice food and the restaurant was crowded, and that doesnt happen everywhere these days. Always a good sign.
The picture above left shows the very affable parish councillor Georgette Rapley with her daughter Michelle sampling the delights that India inflicts on the tastebuds. On the right we have the Mayor herself Sue Jones in relaxed mode with her husband Dave enjoying the surroundings on a busy saturday night out...and about to tuck into something hot and spicy!
And now ...last but certainly not least, some of the family Hannents. Pic on left is David's son Robert with Angel, and the pic on the right shows other son Phillip with Jackie...ermmm gulp! at the time of writing I dont know if the aforementioned girls are wives or girlfriends but will find out shortly.
As mentioned the restaurant was very pleasant and the staff attend to your every need, within reason, but all make you feel very relaxed right from the word go. We experienced the standard set meal which was pre arranged beforehand, because of the numbers attending, and there was plenty of it and all very enjoyable, variating from the hot to the very mild. Nice place.
All pictures by Colette Boland save one.
Top shot and words by yours truly Paul Boland.
these are just a small selection of pictures as there were more people there but we cant fit everyone in.
*As everyone will have guessed by now ...the words at the top were NOT written by the Stratford bard
but by a selection of Liverpudlian Beatles.
